EPIC Insurance Brokers & Consultants (“EPIC”), a national insurance brokerage and consulting firm providing specialized services across select industries and client sectors, today announced the promotion of Adam Okun to president, employee benefits. Okun succeeds Craig Hasday, who has been appointed vice chairman, employee benefits. Reporting to Phil Moyles, co-president of EPIC, Okun holds more than two decades of relevant experience, most recently serving as regional practice leader at EPIC and previously as co-president of Frenkel Benefits, which became part of EPIC through a 2017 acquisition.
As employers of all sizes seek new ways to manage employee benefits and meet the evolving healthcare needs of their workforces, specialized expertise has become an increasingly important asset. In his new role, Okun will lead the continued evolution of EPIC’s national Employee Benefits practice, expanding access to the firm’s specialized expertise, technology, pharmacy consulting capabilities and sector-specific solutions.
Okun will focus on aligning EPIC’s four primary client segments — small group, lower middle market, upper middle market, and large national consulting — while strengthening industry specialization to develop more tailored benefits strategies informed by the unique workforce, purchasing needs and risk profiles across industries. He will also lead efforts to better integrate EPIC’s regional expertise across the firm’s national footprint, enabling clients to benefit from local market insights at scale.
“Our clients’ needs are becoming ever more specialized, increasing their reliance on advisors who understand the unique challenges facing their business and workforce,” said Okun. “EPIC has built tremendous expertise across our Employee Benefits practice. I am laser focused on harnessing the full impact of our practice such that clients can access the right specialists, resources and solutions, regardless of their point of origin or the solutions they may have relied upon in the past.”
Additionally, Okun will help deepen the integration of Pharmaceutical Strategies Group (PSG), an EPIC company, into EPIC’s Employee Benefits platform, bringing the firm’s pharmacy consulting expertise — historically leveraged primarily by commercial payers and large multinational organizations — to employers of all sizes across the country. PSG will enable EPIC to deliver more comprehensive pharmacy solutions while creating opportunities to strengthen client relationships across the organization, including property & casualty and other practice areas.
“Pharmacy benefits are a uniquely complex endeavor and employers need expertise that extends beyond traditional brokerage services,” said Hasday. “Adam’s leadership will deepen our pharmacy integration platform, resulting in easier access to more sophisticated pharmacy solutions for employers and their employees.”
Okun’s appointment reflects EPIC’s broader strategy of expanding specialized expertise, strengthening collaboration across its national platform and delivering more integrated solutions to clients. Building on EPIC’s previously announced leadership elevations, these investments in personnel strengthen EPIC’s ability to attract top talent, deepen carrier relationships, expand specialized capabilities and deliver increasingly integrated risk and insurance solutions.
