Not every dentist spends a year treating facial trauma in a Bronx emergency room. Dr. Meghan Holub did, and that training now comes to Lakewood. Balanced Dental Studio has added Dr. Holub, DDS to its clinical team, where she is accepting new patients of all ages.
Dr. Holub earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Miami, then completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Founded in 1892, the Buffalo dental school is one of the oldest in the country and ranks among the nation’s top programs for dental research funding.
She went on to a General Practice Residency at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx, part of the NYC Health + Hospitals system and an academic affiliate of Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Jacobi is a designated Level I trauma center, so its dental residents treat maxillofacial trauma alongside emergency room staff. Residents there also train in operating room cases, implant placement, cone beam imaging, and laser dentistry. That residency isn’t required to practice general dentistry. It’s a year most dentists never do.
Dr. Holub practiced in the Denver area before joining Balanced Dental Studio, and continues advanced training in dental implants and Invisalign clear aligners. “Dr. Meghan listens before she picks up an instrument, and patients feel that right away,” said Dr. Elizabeth Turner, founder of Balanced Dental Studio. “Her training means very little rattles her. When something complicated walks through the door, she’s already seen a version of it.”
“The residency changed how I explain things,” Dr. Holub said. “You see enough emergencies and you learn that most of what scares people is not knowing what’s happening. So I slow down and tell them.” Outside the practice, she camps throughout Colorado with her dog, Steve, and DJs around Denver.
