Money20/20, the world’s leading fintech show, concluded last Wednesday Oct 21, at The Venetian in Las Vegas, bringing together ~11,000 attendees from 85+ countries, 3,000+ companies, 450 sponsors and over 600 speakers from across the global financial ecosystem. Against a backdrop of rapid technological change and evolving regulation this year’s show explored how the forces reshaping money are moving from experimentation to execution.
Money20/20 USA examined four defining forces shaping the industry: borderless financial architecture, technology as the great equalizer, partnerships as the engine to scale, and the regulatory guardrails needed to build trust. Across over 200 hours of content, discussions focused on how innovation is transforming payments, banking, commerce and the movement of money worldwide.
Stablecoins and tokenization took center stage, with conversations shifting from potential use cases to the infrastructure, partnerships and regulatory frameworks needed for mainstream adoption. At the Intersection stage Money20/20’s dedicated platform for traditional and decentralized finance, leaders from Citi, Visa, Western Union, Coinbase and Circle explored how digital assets are reshaping payments, capital markets and 24/7 settlement.
The shift towards real-world implementation was reinforced by major announcements. Mesh announced a strategic partnership with Visa that will enable consumers to pay with crypto and stablecoins across Visa’s global acceptance network. Mastercard unveiled Stablecoin Security, designed to help financial institutions assess transaction risk before funds move, while Thunes and Coinbase announced a strategic alliance to connect digital asset infrastructure with domestic payment networks worldwide.
Artificial intelligence emerged as a force reshaping not only financial services but also how money moves. Discussions moved beyond traditional AI applications to agentic AI, with autonomous systems increasingly capable of executing tasks, making decisions and facilitating transactions. Leaders from Plaid, Perplexity, Wells Fargo, Microsoft and Fiserv explored AI’s growing role in financial decision-making, customer experiences and business operations, alongside the opportunities and risks of deploying these technologies at scale.
As AI agents become increasingly involved in commerce and payments, fraud prevention and security are taking on new urgency. Discussions examined how financial institutions can use AI to detect fraud, automate risk decisions, and strengthen customer protection while addressing new vulnerabilities. The event also highlighted the challenge of securing agent-driven transactions, with Evervault announcing Browser Tokens to enable AI agents and agent-driven browsers to complete online purchases without accessing sensitive payment information or credentials.
Collaboration across the financial ecosystem was equally prominent. Banks, fintechs, technology companies, investors and regulators examined how embedded finance, fintech-as-a-service and shared infrastructure can accelerate innovation. The closed-door roundtable session, Policy20 brought together policymakers, central banks, regulators and industry leaders, including representatives from the White House, U.S. Congress, the Federal Reserve, and international central banks to discuss regulatory clarity, digital assets, AI governance, data access and consumer protection.
The caliber of speakers reflected the breadth of the industry’s transformation. PayPal President and CEO Enrique Lores, PNC Financial Services Group Chairman and CEO William (Bil) Demchak, Plaid CEO Zach Perret, Adyen Chief Risk & Compliance Officer Mariëtte Swart, Experian Chief Innovation Officer Kathleen Peters, Perplexity CEO and Co-Founder Aravind Srinivas, Alex Blania, co-founder and CEO of Tools for Humanity, and Phantom CEO Brandon Millman were among the leaders exploring the future of payments, banking, AI and digital assets.
Innovation was also on display among emerging companies with over 900 startups present at the show.
“Money20/20 USA is where the conversations shaping the future of money meet the people and businesses turning those ideas into reality,” said Jessica Blue, Executive Vice President of Money20/20 USA. “This is where the boldest ideas in the industry come together. The partnerships formed here will carry that vision forward and shaping what comes next for money movement around the world”.
Money20/20 USA returns to Las Vegas in 2027 on October 19-21, moving to the Las Vegas Convention Center and Resorts World as the show continues to expand its platform for the global money ecosystem.
