HANGZHOU, China, Sept. 21, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Gerchamp, an AI and renewable energy infrastructure manufacturer, today announced the launch of its GZC-9038S Nickel-Zinc Battery Cabinet, a factory-assembled, space-efficient UPS battery solution designed for MW-scale data centers and GPU clusters. Delivering 10C-rate discharge capability and 15-minute backup power, the GZC-9038S integrates Gerchamp’s proprietary 8XNFG90 nickel-zinc (NiZn) batteries with a multi-functional battery monitoring system (BMS) to provide high-power UPS backup, fast power delivery, no thermal runaway, and 24/7 battery health monitoring.

As AI workloads drive higher rack power density, data center operators are rethinking how facility space is allocated between compute capacity and supporting infrastructure. Uptime Institute notes that next-generation AI systems are pushing rack power requirements higher, creating new challenges for power distribution, UPS systems, and associated electrical infrastructure.
Designed for AI and high-density data centers, the GZC-9038S integrates a compact cabinet architecture, high power density, and factory-integrated design to optimize UPS deployment where electrical capacity, floor space, and deployment timelines are critical constraints. Factory-built and pre-wired, the battery cabinet minimizes onsite installation requirements and accelerates deployment for high-density facilities.
High-Power Backup for AI Infrastructure
AI workloads introduce new power requirements for UPS systems. High-density GPU clusters create rapid load changes and require battery systems capable of fast power response, stable voltage support during power disturbances.
The GZC-9038S delivers a 10C discharge rate to support high-rate power delivery for AI clusters and high-density computing environments. By combining high-power output capability with long-life nickel-zinc chemistry, the system provides reliable UPS backup performance for mission-critical applications.
Nickel-Zinc Chemistry Designed for Data Center Battery Safety
The GZC-9038S integrates Gerchamp’s proprietary 8XNFG90 nickel-zinc battery modules, combining aqueous NiZn chemistry with a multi-layer safety design to reduce leakage risks and improve operational reliability in data centers
The 8XNFG90 battery incorporates a liquid absorption separator, four-layer sealing structure, and controlled pressure release mechanism. This architecture provides enhanced electrolyte retention, improved sealing performance, and safe pressure regulation under abnormal operating conditions, helping maintain battery integrity throughout the service life.
Based on aqueous nickel-zinc chemistry, the 8XNFG90 battery eliminates thermal runaway risks and has achieved UL 9540A certification. The battery has also passed extreme abuse tests, including crushing, drilling, impact, and fire exposure tests, without fire or explosion propagation.
Intelligent Battery Monitoring to Reduce Operational Complexity
The GZC-9038S integrates Gerchamp’s proprietary BMS platform, backed by more than 20 years of battery monitoring and management expertise. The BMS is deployed across global data center and telecom applications. It provides cell-level monitoring for up to 38 battery modules with millisecond-level data acquisition, delivering real-time battery visibility through local HMI and web interfaces.
The system monitors key battery parameters and estimates SOC and SOH to evaluate battery health and lifecycle performance. This reduces manual inspections and supports condition-based maintenance and replacement planning for mission-critical UPS systems.
Features of GZC-9038S Nickel-Zinc Battery Cabinet
